Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician
About the role
The role of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician will be to support production and improvement activities in this fast-moving and changing manufacturing facility.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
- First response to breakdowns as part of a maintenance team covering designated process streams.
- Manage and supervise the daily maintenance in all operational areas to ensure a safe and efficient production performance is delivered.
- Lead the team in resolving mid- and long-term improvement activities to maintain and improve plant and facility performance.
- Provide direction and leadership to the team to meet equipment overall production reliability (OPR) and quality objectives. Improving existing facilities once installed incorporating new methods and processes.
- Ability to manage several complex maintenance work streams and projects with critical path interdependencies.
- Fault finding and diagnosis across a variety of manufacturing processes and facilities including multiple control systems.
- Lead and support problem-solving activities for manufacturing facilities and process equipment.
- Planning and undertaking total productive maintenance (TPM) and preventative maintenance (PM) activities.
- Lead and implement continuous improvements of equipment and processes.
- Have the knowledge and physical ability to work in a clean and dry room environment.
- Liaising with the operations team to prioritise tasks and working through these as required
- Ability to go through engineering drawings/schematics to order parts etc.
- Ensure correct use of the stores` system is adhered to.
Knowledge skills and experience
- Ideally served an indentured apprenticeship in electrical/mechanical or engineering discipline.
- Ideally qualified to ONC/HNC/HND Level 3.
- Experience in Automation, PLC and Robot Applications (ideally). Applicants should have a high level of technical, mechanical and automation engineering skills in an engineering or process operational facility.
- The ability to lead, and to work as part of a team is essential, as is the ability to achieve results by meeting deliverables/commitments.
- Experience in project management, process improvement and strategy development.
- A good understanding of lean principles, TPM and kaizen processes.
- Good verbal communication skills, including active listening and the ability to understand complex technical information including technical drawings.
- Experience of maintenance in high-speed/precision environments.
- Organisational skills for scheduling maintenance tasks and ensuring job completion.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Robot/automation experience.
- Experience of working in and leading a team.
- Technical understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and control systems for planning and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements related to plant and equipment.
